THE FORWARD PAPERS

We are in the process of putting together a literary and arts magazine called,
“The Forward Papers” to serve the Pocono Area in PA and beyond.

We’ve been exploring many styles, formats, and dimensions
along with comparing printing cost for the project.

As of now, we hope to publish 5000 copies of a 20 page magazine semi annually to start.
We may publish more copies with more pages more frequently as funds and material permits.

We’re in the process of making up a mock up (prototype) issue
to show to potential advertisers and investors.
We hope the funds to publish the magazine will come from advertisers,
page and issue sponsors, patronages, and very affordable individual contributions.
Please feel free to contact us for a listing of our rates.

We’ve been meeting with our editor Debbie Burke of
Pocono Jazz and Poetry
who has proven instrumental in setting the ground work for this project
with her editorial and business experience.
Now, we would like to invite you to be a part of this wonderful adventure.

On Saturday December 12th, we held
a special gathering at 11am in
The Starbucks Coffeehouse
located at 745 Main Street near the corners of
8th and Main Streets in Stroudsburg, PA
for Writers and Artists
as well as those interested in marketing and
helping the magazine raise revenue for printing.

How to Be A Part to Our Magazine
News as We Go Forward
Wednesday November 25th, 2009 - Printed the first version of The Forward Papers Prototype (Mock up)
issue to be shown to potential investors. It was edited and fine tuned prior to the Publication Gathering
which took place Saturday December 12th. It's nice to see it on paper.
Many topics relating to the publication of The Forward Papers were explored as our envisioning began to
take the shape of a manifested reality during our first Publication Gathering on Saturday December 12th.
Some of ideas generated included holding events filled with music, poetry, and art to help raise additional
funds to assure the publication of our premier issue and beyond. The next Publication Gathering will take
place soon after the Holidays. Stay tuned for your opportunity to participate
We've been working on improving the look of the magazine and gaining information on whom to print
it. We've received a great deal of work which we are eternally thankful for. You'll be able to read our
submission guidelines for poetry, stories, and images along with how to contribute financially to our
magazine at our new page. Please feel free to visit.
WE'VE CHANGED OUR NAME
MORE TO COME
As some of you may know, I've previously published a literary and arts magazine back in the mid 1990's
called, “The Forward Papers.” It was tabloid size and printed on newsprint. As this incarnation of the
magazine presented itself to me, a series of departures from the original began to manifest.

The first was of gaining a business partner who possessed the common sense I lacked (I'm a man after all).
Second was the necessity of changing the format from the previous size to an 8 1/2 x 11 inch one due to the
abilities of computer and the printer I now own. In the midst of all these evolutionary changes, I awoke one
morning with an inspiration. “Why not simply call the magazine, 'Forward'?” But then, another inspiration
came my way. “How about calling it “Forwardian'?”

Oh, what feelings came upon me. I began to envision people picking up our magazine just to discover what
this mysterious word, “Forwardian” meant. It also reflects
The Forwardian Arts Society in a more connected
way and encourages people to explore our website to learn more about our fellowship and its offerings.

So, now our new literary and arts magazine is officially named, “Forwardian.” I invite you to embrace her and
become a part of all the wonders it will instill.
SO, NOW THAT THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE HAS PAST,
WHAT ARE WE DOING NOW?
Well, we've been busy sorting through all the wonderful material we've received and deciding what we'll
include in our first issue. We're also busy seeking out funds to pay for the printing. We've decided on a
24page publication of 2000 copies to distribute. We're targeting April 2010 as our release date and it just
turned March. As of this date (March 1st), we've raised $300 of the $2500 we need to publish.

As with all business ventures, we’re sure you can appreciate the need of funding is to any enterprise. So,
we could use your help. We're looking for
Page Sponsors and Patrons to support us. We have detailed
information on what we offer those who can help us financially on our
Contributors Page, but we'd like to
briefly let you know for $20 you can become a
Patron and receive a listing which includes a 20word
statement written by you and for $100 you can become a
Page Sponsor and have a 100 word statement
appear at the bottom of a page.

Our Magazine “Forwardian” serves as an extension of The Forwardian Arts Society and seeks to present
insightful poetry, compelling stories, and captivating images created by poets, writers, artists, and
photographers throughout the Poconos and beyond. Many of our contributors have won awards for their
creative endeavors and are well known throughout the community. We are honored to include them in our
premier issue.

We’re sure after considering the quality Forwardian aspires to along with the affordability of supporting it
financially, you’ll become a very valued and welcomed part of our magazine.
